Information about Supported Self-Management
For mild cases of depression, consider supported self-management (SSM) — providing information about depression so that patients can participate in managing their depression, with your support.
SSM could also be used in conjunction with medication for more severe cases or while awaiting psychotherapy.
Self-management (aka self-help) tools for your patients include:
- Antidepressant Skills Workbook (ASW)
You can provide your patients with this two page brochure describing the ASW, or alternatively, you can simply give them this link or PDF
